One thing I've noticed with traditional media is that once you make a mark on paper with ink you are committed to that mark; the possibilities become closed as the work is expressed; digital is infinitely tweakable and so can never really be closed; layers allow for divergence, subversion and for the retentive in me to have his head.
I'd planned to make this a painting with colour and everything...old habits die hard and by the time I came to the point I thought i could colour it, my old reliance with working shadows had knackered the possibility. I still have the outline drawing, I might get around to painting this one day.
yeah but then there comes a point where the options are so infinite it's just like "lets get something down as a placeholder then we'll revise it." 237 layers later I still haven't drawn a damn thing. Sweet character design there tho.

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
